Chad McCail

5 April 2003 - 29 June 2003

5 April 2003 - 29 June 2003

In this exhibition which concludes his residency at BALTIC, Scottish artist Chad McCail presents a series of new works. His paintings use the simplified visual style and bright colours of safety manuals or children’s books to comment on the mechanisms of oppression in a hierarchical society. In this show, McCail creates a humorous, and at times disturbing, comic strip narrative, exploring the political, ideological and sexual beliefs and traditions of today.
