Double Vision
Italian artist Maurizio Cannavacciuolo animates surfaces with his intricate and intense drawings. The sprawling images are almost invisible yet overwhelming, featuring patterns with floral and cosmic themes and tableaux lifted from style magazines.
At BALTIC his work in the Level 5 Viewing Box included new elements from research carried out locally. The resulting images, delicately drawn in pencil onto the walls, formed a very personal world which encouraged viewers to create their own adventure.
