Until 30 June 2013
This exhibition invites visitors to interact with the works directly by opening the ‘wind house’ to bring the exterior elements inside and physically infiltrating an inverted countryside scene in the work Trans-parent.
Click here for directions, transport links information and a map for getting here. BALTIC is free entry and open seven days a week 10.00-18.00 except Tuesdays 10.30-18.00.
We offer many opportunities for schools and colleges, from group visits and artist-led sessions to work based placements within our Learning team.
BALTIC is on a winning streak! In 2012 BALTIC was named winner of the National Lottery Awards Best Arts Project, the Gold Award for Large Visitor Attraction at the North East Tourism Awards and the Times Higher Education Awards for its partnership with Northumbria University.
For his solo exhibition at BALTIC 39, the first in a UK public gallery, Matt Calderwood has created a series of ambitious new sculptures, works on paper and video. Now open Wed-Sun.

Silk Route
Subodh Gupta is an Indian artist whose work is influenced by his experience of migration, displacement and travel. In a humorous and ironic way his work comments on India’s rapidly changing society. To make his sculptures Gupta often uses materials from everyday Indian life, such as domestic stainless steel utensils, old machinery and cow dung.
For his exhibition at BALTIC, Gupta will create new work for a sculpture based installation in the ground floor exhibition space.
