This exhibition invites visitors to interact with the works directly by opening the ‘wind house’ to bring the exterior elements inside and physically infiltrating an inverted countryside scene in the work Trans-parent.

In collaboration with spider researchers andastrophysicists, Tomas Saraceno has spentseveral years developing the 350 cubic metreinstallation that will fill BALTIC’s Level 2Gallery from July. Scientists create largescalemodels of spiders’ webs and examinetheir construction to explain the origin andstructure of the universe. The starting pointfor Saraceno’s new work was a model of thepoisonous Black Widow’s web. The giganticinstallation, made in collaboration with theBonniers Konsthall, Sweden, will span floorto ceiling.
