3 MAR 2014: BALTIC's Flat Pack Stack installation is now on display in Urban Outfitters, Newcastle.  

BALTIC is delighted to announce a new BALTIC Edition DOMAIN, created by the internationally acclaimed artist Antony Gormley. A reflection on the artist's iconic 2003 installation DOMAIN FIELD at BALTIC, the print is on sale now.

BALTIC Project Space at BALTIC 39, Newcastle upon Tyne

27 JUN 2013: BALTIC is delighted to announce BALTIC 39 | FIGURE ONE, an open submission exhibition to be held in the project space at BALTIC 39 from 4 September – 6 October 2013. BALTIC 39 | FIGURE ONE is an opportunity for artists to test works and ideas, or to develop works in progress within a public context. The exhibition will be selected by BALTIC Assistant Curator, Will Cooper and BALTIC Chief Curator, Laurence Sillars.

A Credit to Britain

17 JUN 2013: BALTIC Director Godfrey Worsdale, and previous BALTIC-exhibiting artist Elizabeth Price feature in a new Arts Council video, A Credit to Britain. It costs each person in England just 14p a week to sustain public investment in arts and culture. 28 MAY 2013: The brand new course MFA (Master fo Fine Arts) at Northumbria provides a unique learning environment in the dynamic BxNU Institute of Contemporary Art, at BALTIC 39, in Newcastle’s city centre. For the academic year 2013/14 Northumbria University are offering five BALTIC Scholarships worth £3,000.

Museum of the Year Photography Award

To celebrate BALTIC’s nomination for The Art Fund Prize for Museum of the Year 2013, BALTIC hosted the Say Cheese! Weekend asking visitors to take photos of their favourite view of BALTIC. We are calling upon the public to help us make David Whinham’s entry of BALTIC the overall winning photo. To vote visit here

On Thursday 18 April three of the judges visited BALTIC to experience first-hand the exhibition programme and learning offer. The judges met with BALTIC Director Godfrey Worsdale and BALTIC Head of Learning Emma Thomas, as well as visiting BALTIC 39, BALTIC’s Project Space based in Newcastle, judges met with BxNU Institute of Contemporary Art students and studio holders.

To celebrate BALTIC’s nomination for The Art Fund Prize for Museum of the Year 2013, BALTIC will host Say Cheese!, an open photographic weekend. From 4-6 May we're inviting visitors to take photos throughout the building and galleries to find the best photograph of BALTIC.

Artfund Museum of the Year 2013

BALTIC and BALTIC 39 have been selected as one of 10 finalists for The Art Fund Prize, Museum of the Year 2013. The prize celebrates museums and galleries across the UK - annually awarding one outstanding winner £100,000. 

Artangel OPen

A £1 million initiative for new site-specific commissions across the UK. Artangel and BBC Radio 4 today launch a new Open for artists anywhere in the UK. Artangel will visit 12 cities across the UK for Open Platforms, events providing artists the opportunity to talk to Artangel directly about the initiative, including BALTIC. Read more

Antony Gormley presents BALTIC with National Lottery Award for Best Arts Project

BALTIC has won the public vote to be crowned the UK’s favourite arts project in this year’s National Lottery Awards - the annual search to find the nation’s favourite Lottery-funded projects.
