John Cage: Variations VII

Variations VII

29 February 2008 - 2 March 2008

BALTIC collaborates with AV Festival 08 to restage a unique performance by composer and artist John Cage. Variations VII was originally conceived for 9 Evenings in New York City, 1966.

This rarely performed work by one of the most innovative figures of the 20th Century will be recreated by BALTIC and AV Festival using contemporary musicians for one night only on Friday 29 February 2008.

To accompany this special performance of Variations VII, the documentary filmJohn Cage Variations VII from the series of films on the 9 Evenings: Theatre & Engineering will be screened in the cinema until Sunday 2 March. The film was produced by Billy Klüver and Julie Martin for Experiments in Art and Technology and directed by Barbro Schultz Lundestam.
